The act of Giving

Nov 2nd 2018 - If you didn't see my Instagram or Facebook post on Nov 2nd about a wonderful human being; Jessica Davies... let me fill you in.

Ms. Davies had decided in honour of myself she was going to cut her hair and donate it to the "charity" of my choice. Um, excuse me... who does this? Who actually just tells somebody; "Hey, I'm cutting all my hair off for you" so nonchalant, like it's an everyday occurrence? This girl.

I've donated my hair 5 times; once to wigs for kids and 4 times to Pantene Beautiful Lengths programme who partner with the Canadian Cancer Society. That's who we have chosen to donate her hair to - Pantene.

Jess has been growing her hair out for years and decided that this was the time she was supposed to donate it.

And to make the timing even more perfect; as of Dec 31st 2018 Pantene Beautiful Lengths will no longer be accepting donations until 2022, because they have TOO MUCH HAIR!! What?

I was honoured to be able to cut Jessica's hair in the braid for her! Shaky as I was, we got it done together. I originally said 14 inches in my posts, but I must correct myself - it was actually 15 inches in total for donation.

I'm so humbled to have people in my life like this, people who don't think twice of how they are going to show you support, people who take your illness and find the positive, people who are more like you than you think.

Thank you Jess for doing the most selfless act any survivor could ask for. You truly are an amazing person and an even better friend.

Xo
